The Cane Cutters will send a bevvy of talent to represent Acadiana in the 2013 Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game.

The 2013 Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game will feature more than just a dash of Cajun flavor this season. The TCL announced earlier today that they have selected six Cane Cutters as some of the best at their positions to represent Acadiana in the July 9 showcase at Driller Park in Kilgore. Catcher Mitchell Nau, shortstop Logan Taylor, utility player Kyle Cedotal, starters Jake Winston and Justin Sinibaldi, and relief pitcher John Gremillion all made the 2013 roster.

Catcher Mitchell Nau will represent the Cane Cutters for the second consecutive year at the mid-season All-Star Game. The Texas A&M Aggie sports a gaudy .370 average on the season, while tallying 15 runs, 14 RBIs, 2 home runs, 6 swipes, and a staggering on-base percentage that is creeping towards .500.

Teammate Logan Taylor will join his fellow Aggie in Kilgore come Tuesday. The Acadiana shortstop has played at a torrid pace of late, getting stronger and stronger as the season goes on. Taylor owns the fifth highest batting average in the league (.329) and has accumulated 16 runs, 15 runs batted in, and 20 free passes. In addition to those lofty numbers, Taylor is always applying pressure on opposing defenses, as he has added 11 stolen bases to his 2013 resume.

Rounding out the position player representatives for the Canes will be Kyle Cedotal. The freshman from Southeastern has proven he can do most anything on the diamond to receive the nod as this season’s TCL utility All-Star. Primarily an outfielder, Cedotal has hit .282 with 14 runs crossed, 6 extra base hits, 7 runs plated, and 5 steals.

Freshman starter Jake Winston will head to Kilgore as the leading vote getting for all Texas Collegiate League pitchers. The Southern Miss righty has been a nightmare for opposing offenses. In six starts he has a (4-1) record while only surrendering 6 earned runs this season. Winston has accumulated 38.2 innings pitched, 29 strikeouts, and a miniscule 1.39 ERA.

Fellow starter Justin Sinibaldi will also be taking the mound on July 9 in Kilgore. The Nicholls State Colonel has been a mainstay in the 2013 Acadiana rotation, grabbing 2 wins on the year. Sinibaldi has racked up 29 punchouts in 34 innings accounting for a solid ERA of 3.70.

John Gremillion will complete the crew of players Acadiana will send to East Texas this season. The Southeastern Louisiana hurler has been sharp all year long, bagging a paltry 1.05 ERA in 8 appearances. The freshman has given up just 2 earned runs in 17 innings with 11 strikeouts and 1 save in 2013.

The 2013 TCL All-Star festivities will kickoff with a home run derby before the All-Star Game gets going on Tuesday July 9.
