Fabacher Field

Start the presses! The beans are boiling in the pot! Boiling, I tell ya! The Cane Cutters are headed back to Fabacher Field following a series split with the East Texas Pump Jacks in Driller Park! Acadiana won the first game 9-3 behind big bats before dropping last night’s contest 7-3, pushing their second half record to a league-leading 9-3. The Cane Cutters will face the Texas Marshals in Youngsville for a two-game series before Monday’s weekly break. The Marshals are coming off of a two game set against the Brazos Valley Bombers in which they were swept, losing both games 3-4 and 5-10. Acadiana will play Texas for the fifth time this season, their final series in Fabacher of the summer.

The Cane Cutters swung hot sticks against the East Texas Pump Jacks, earning 20 hits in both games and scoring a total of 12 runs in the 1-1 series split. Connor Barron has been on fire for the Cane Cutters, hitting his fourth home run of the season, a mark that now leads the team and ties the all-time Acadiana Cane Cutters’ home run record. He also added a double as part of his 3 hits, driving in 3 runs and scoring once. Nick Dawson continued his 13-game hitting streak, earning 2 hits in the series and adding an RBI. Kyle Cedotal had 3 hits in just 4 at bats in the first game before pitching in the second game of the series, good for a .750 batting average.  Freddy Prince also had an appearance on the mound and at the plate, as he pitched 5 2/3 innings for the win in the first game, allowing just one hit and striking out 3 batters. The following night, he went 1 for 5 from the dish with a single.

The Marshals had a tough series against the first place overall Bombers Thursday and Friday, losing both games in the Bombers’ home field. The Marshals were able to score 8 runs on 16 total hits, but could not keep the Bombers off the board, as they scored 14 runs. Zachary Marberry went 3 for 8 on the series with a double and an RBI. Jared Pruett also had a 3 for 8 series, adding a double to hits total. Nick Palacios had a quality start for the Marshals during their first game against the Bombers’ going 6 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 2 hitters, but earned the loss as the Marshals were unable to score enough runs. Look for Acadiana to take advantage of the Marshals’ cold pitching staff and keep Marshals’ runners off base.

Saturday’s game will be Roaring 20’s Night at Fabacher Field! Enjoy the fun at the park with 20’s style public address announcements, press releases, on-field games, music, and more! Additionally, ALL drinks are $1 off from 6-7 PM at all stadium speakeasies. Sunday night’s game will be Slippery Sunday, where all youth are invited to hop on our Duhon’s Fun Jumps water slide before and during the game!
