Summer has undoubtedly flown by as your Acadiana Cane Cutters host their final regular season home stand on Tuesday and Wednesday night at Fabacher Field. The squad has already earned a 2013 Texas Collegiate League postseason playoff berth and is looking to lock up the number three seed in the tournament with a pair of wins against the East Texas Pump Jacks.

The Cane Cutters are coming off of a series in the Woodlands that was never in question. Coach Landry and the Cutters unleashed a myriad of offense that torched the Strykers in a two-game sweep by a run count of 31-7. Acadiana belted 34 hits in two nights, eight of which came from All-Star catcher Mitchell Nau. The to-be Warstic TCL Player of the Week had a monster series. The Texas A&M backstop went (8-for-10) overall with seven RBIs, two home runs, and five runs scored. Nau wasn’t the only Cutter dialed in at the plate. Blake Brom recorded a hefty seven hits in his ten at-bats, and outfielder Jordie Hein added four hits and four RBIs to his season totals. There is clearly no better time for a team to get hot than at the doorstep of postseason play.

Enter the East Texas Pump Jacks who have quietly punched a ticket to the 2013 playoffs amidst their current win-streak. East Texas has won four straight, beginning with a sweep of the Strykers at the end of last week, then issuing the same fate to the Marshals over the weekend. Whereas the Cane Cutters have been pummeling opponents via offense, the ‘Jacks have been earning wins on the mound. Starter Nick Rossetta dominated in the his last performance, going the distance against Texas in an 8-0 shutout that saw the East Texas hurler sit down nine.

Don’t miss a bevvy of action tonight at Fabacher Field when East Texas stops in for game one of the set. It’s Duhon’s Fun Jumps Tuesday at the park, meaning FREE fun jumps all night. The Cane Cutters will be holding a silent auction tonight and tomorrow night for three authentic, game-worn, team autographed jerseys courtesy of C&G Boats. Tonight is also a ticket redemption night. All unused tickets to-date can be swapped for a ticket to this evening’s contest.
