Acadiana Snaps East Texas Win Streak, Adds to Their Own

08/06/2013 5:06 PM -

With the 2013 playoffs on the doorstep, both the East Texas Pump Jacks and Acadiana Cane Cutters looked to sharpen up before postseason play.

With a ticket to the 2013 postseason already punched, the Cane Cutters took to Fabacher Field eying to keep the momentum going into this month’s Texas Collegiate League playoffs. The East Texas Pump Jacks stopped by for a visit on Tuesday night, also looking to crescendo as the regular season wrapped up.

The Pump Jacks greeted Canes’ starter Kyle Cedotal abruptly Tuesday night, jumping out to a two-run lead before the first three outs of the game were recorded. East Texas catcher Nate Esposito was responsible for the damage as he cashed in an early bases loaded opportunity with the two-RBI single. Cedotal would go on to find a groove though, breezing though the next six scoreless.

The same Cane Cutters’ offense that posted 31 runs over the weekend series in the Woodlands struggled to rekindle that same spark. Jacks’ starter Robert Parucha was dialed in, posting all zeroes through seven. His flawlessness wouldn’t last all night however; Acadiana would break through to tie the contest in the seventh with two runs courtesy of an RBI single from right fielder Jace Statum and a two-bagger from Warstic TCL Player of the Week Mitchell Nau that also drove in a run. Just getting warmed up in the seventh, the offensive deluge would rain down in the eighth. After a pair of walks to leadoff the frame, Kyle Cedotal looped an RBI single to shallow right scoring a run to support his own cause. Then Mitchell Nau would connect yet again, this time for his fourth hit of the night that pushed two more across. After the dust settled, the Cutters would notch five and turn away the Pump Jacks for a 7-2 final.
