FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 12, 2014

The Acadiana Cane Cutters, who have signed multiple players from three schools in the past few weeks, have continued that trend with the announcement that two freshman from Nicholls State University have agreed to play in Acadiana this summer: catcher Alex Tucker and outfielder Justin Holt.

“We are fortunate that Coach Landry has so many great relationships with area college coaches,” Cane Cutters GM Bill Levy said. “We are delighted that many coaches see us as a fit for numerous players on their respective roster.”

Tucker, a redshirt freshman from Denham Springs, LA has started three games for the Colonels.
Holt, from Gulfport, MS, has started 11 games for Nichols and has already tallied 3 stolen bases and is second on the team with 17 put outs.

“Part of our mission in summer collegiate baseball is to help kids develop,” Cane Cutters coach Lonny Landry said. “It is exciting to bring two exciting freshmen, with so much potential, here this summer. I am sure our fans will enjoy watching their progression with us.”

The Cane Cutters will open their fourth season on Thursday, May 29th when they host the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field in what will be the first part of an “Opening Weekend.” The Cane Cutters are part of the six-team Texas Collegiate League that features some of the Nation’s top college prospects.
