CANE CUTTERS ADD TO ROSTER

05/12/2014 6:42 PM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters of the Texas Collegiate League, who open their season on May 29th, have added depth to their roster with the addition of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi junior short stop Josh Garza along with a pair of right handed- pitchers: Texas State University redshirt freshman Alec Sanchez and Ranger Junior College freshman Cole Butler.

Garza, who attended Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, TX has appeared in 44 games for the Islanders and currently has a .919 fielding percentage. Butler, a graduate of Dulles High School in Sugarland, TX has appeared in six games so far for Ranger.

“With the grind of s sixty-game schedule in two and a half months, it is important to have depth at every position,” said Cane Cutters coach Lonny Landry. “We are committed to fielding a team which has a legitimate chance to win each and every night we play.”

The Cane Cutters will open their fourth season on Thursday, May 29th when they host the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field in what will be the first part of an “Opening Weekend.” The home opening game is scheduled to include a rendition of the National Anthem sung by “Mrs. Acadiana,” Heather Hebert and the Cane Cutters first “Thirsty Thursday” of the year. The next day, May 30, will feature a C&G Boats “Fireworks Friday” postgame show.  Last year, the bombers went 49-15 in capturing the mythical National Championship and #1 ranking in all of summer collegiate baseball by Perfect Game. The Cane Cutters and Bombers are part of the six-team Texas Collegiate League that features some of the Nation’s top college prospects. Season tickets are now available. Call (337) 451-6582.
