POWERADE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

 The Acadiana Cane Cutters handed the Brazos Valley Bombers their first loss of the season with an 8-1 victory on Wednesday June 4th, before heading back to Fabacher Field for a double header on Thursday against the Pump Jacks where the Cane cutters won both games and swept the 3 game series after a win on Friday.  They split the 2 game series against the Strykers and are now currently sitting at third place in the Texas Collegiate League with a record of 6-4.

The PowerAde Player of the Week was awarded to Trent Giambrone who recorded a .364 batting average, .517 on base percentage, a .364 slugging percentage as well as 6 runs, 4 RBIs, and 9 stolen bases in the Cane Cutters last 7 games. In the 7-4 loss against the Strykers on Saturday, Trent led the offense where he was 2-3 with 1 RBI, 1 run scored and successfully stole base 4 times.  Trent has played in all 10 games with 35 at bats, 7 runs, 10 hits, and 6 RBIs and currently leads the team in stolen bases (10).  On defense, Trent has recorded 16 put outs and 34 assists at second base/short stop.

For the second consecutive week, Alec Sanchez was selected as the PowerAde Pitcher of the Week.  Sanchez relieved teammate Cody Coll on Friday against the East Texas Pump Jacks after Cody pitched 6 innings.  Alec recorded the save after pitching 3 innings and allowing no runs. Over 2 games, Sanchez recorded 3 strikeouts, 0 earned runs allowed, a .214 on base percentage and a .083 opponent batting average and slugging percentage allowed. Sanchez now has 2 wins under his belt for the Cane Cutters after appearing in 2 games.

The Cane Cutters head to McKinney, Texas tomorrow where they play the 3-7 Texas Marshalls.  Game starts at 7:00 PM. The team then plays the 4-6 East Texas Pump Jacks on Thursday and Friday and will return to Fabacher Field on Saturday to play the Texas Marshalls in a two game series that ends on Sunday.
