The Acadiana Cane Cutters Baseball Team, who began the 2014 season in late May, will return home for a two game series beginning on June 14 vs. the Texas Marshals. The game on Saturday, June 14 is the team’s annual “Salute to the Troops” night, where military veterans and current military personnel will be honored, courtesy of Frank’s International, AMPOL and Acadiana Dodge.  On the following day, Sunday June 15, that game will have a “Father’s Day” theme.

The Salute to the Troops game is free to all active military personnel and veterans who pre-register. In addition, they are allowed to receive up to four tickets each for family and friends. Additional tickets may be purchased for $4.00 each. WWII veteran and French Legion medal recipient Hewitt Gomez will be throwing a ceremonial first pitch. The US Army Recruiting office in Lafayette is scheduled to Present the Colors and there will also be a pre-game demonstration on the proper way to fold the American flag. The Victory Military Museum and Educational Center will be dressed in uniform and will have items on display. There will also be a Swearing in Ceremony of United States Army and Marines recruits. Active military and veterans will be eligible to win prizes from various local businesses. For more information on the Salute the Troops Night and/or to pre-register.
