CANE CUTTERS GET ROAD VICTORY AFTER BIG 7TH

 The Acadiana Cane Cutters defeated the Victoria Generals by a score of 5-2 in the first game of their two game road series.

 

Victoria got on the board first after an error and a double in the 3rd inning allowing them to take the 1-0 lead. The Generals would go up 2-0 in the 5th after stringing together a pair of hits. The Acadiana offense exploded in the 7th,however, as Connor Barron (Southern Miss) and Chance Vincent (Alabama) each had a 2 RBI single in the inning. The Cane Cutters would add 1 more in the 9th as Alex Tucker (Nicholls State) scored on a fielder’s choice. The Generals were shutdown in the bottom of the 9th and the game ended 5-2 in favor of Acadiana.

 

Cody Coll (Western Kentucky) was stellar on the mound for the Cane Cutters going 7 innings while giving up 2 runs (1 ER) on 8 hits. He was able to get out of tough situations and managed to strikeout 2 batters. Jake Johnson (Neosha County CC) came in to close out the game throwing 2 hitless innings. He stuck out 4 on the night. 

 

Connor Barron continued to lead the Acadiana offense going 1-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Alex Tucker contributed by going 2-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Trent Giambrone (Jones County CC) was 2-4 with a run scored.

 

Cody Coll got the win for the Cane Cutters while Jake Johnson earned the save. Kaleb Keith got the loss for the Victoria Generals. The Acadiana Cane Cutters are 4-3 in the 2nd half and 18-16 overall.  

 

 

The Cane Cutters will finish their two game road series against the Victoria Generals on Sunday.  They will return home on July 15th to play the Texas Marshals and we will be giving out team pictures to the first 400 fans courtesy of Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission. Also be sure to join us on July 16th for Middle Child Night where we will have special deals for middle children.
