EARLY RUNS GIVE CANE CUTTERS THE WIN

 The Acadiana Cane Cutters defeated the Texas Marshals by a score of 4-1 in game one of their two game home series.

 

The Cane Cutters scored first after Austin Knight (Ole Miss) hit an RBI double in the 2nd inning to put Acadiana up 1-0. They added to their lead in the 3rd when third baseman Chance Vincent (Alabama) hit a 2 RBI single. Acadiana would score again in the 4th inning after a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly by TCL All-Star Connor Barron (Southern Miss). The Marshals scored one in the 5th but the Cane Cutters bullpen would keep them scoreless for the rest of the game.

 

Nick Zaunbrecher (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) started on the mound for Acadiana going 5 innings while giving up just a single run on 4 hits. He collected 3 strikeouts on his way to the win. He was relieved by Scott Szush (Southeastern) who would throw 2 shutout innings with 1 strikeout. Cole Butler (Ranger JC) threw the final two innings of the game and did not allow a run.

 

Austin Knight had a huge double and finished the game 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Trent Giambrone (Jones County CC) also had a solid game going 2-4 with a run scored.

 

Nick Zaunbrecher got the win for the Cane Cutters while Cole Butler earned the save. Austin Hilton got the loss for the Texas Marshals. The Acadiana Cane Cutters are 5-4 in the 2nd half and 19-17 overall.  

 

The Cane Cutters will finish their two game series against the Texas Marshals on Wednesday, July 16th. It will be Middle Child Night where we will have special deals and games to celebrate middle children. Come out on July 17th for UL Night where we will have a UL softball pitcher face off against our local media before the game. We will also have group deals for those that have a group of 5 or more with a student ID.
