CANE CUTTERS GET BACK ON WINNING TRACK

The Acadiana Cane Cutters defeated the Victoria Generals 3-0 in game one of the series after a stellar performance from the entire pitching staff.

 

The Cane Cutters scored a run in the bottom of the 2nd after a single by Trey Hicks (Texas State) and three consecutive walks. Acadiana would continue to add runs in the 5th as Daniel Cucjen (Alabama) hit a double and scored on sacrifice fly by left fielder Cameron Dishon (Ole Miss). Three straight singles by Connor Barron (Southern Miss), Chance Vincent (Alabama), and Austin Knight (Ole Miss), would put Acadiana up 3-0. The bullpen would shut the Generals down for the rest of the game.

 

Marc Frazier (Nicholls State) made his first start of the year on the mound for the Cane Cutters and lasted 4 innings. He gave up just 2 hits, 0 runs, and collected 3 strikeouts. He was relieved by Nick Zaunbrecher (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) who threw 3 shutout innings while giving up 3 hits. Alec Sanchez (Texas State) threw 2 lock down innings at the end of the game to pick up the save.

 

Daniel Cucjen had a nice game at the plate going 1-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. Austin Knight was a standout for the Cane Cutter offense as well going 1-3 with an RBI single and a walk.

 

Marc Frazier got the win for the Cane Cutters while Alec Sanchez picked up the save. Ty Schlottmann got loss for the Victoria Generals. The Acadiana Cane Cutters are 8-6 in the 2nd half and 22-19 overall.  

 

The Cane Cutters will complete their series against the Victoria Generals on Wednesday night. Be sure to come out to Fabacher Field on Saturday July 26th for Lyle Mouton Bobblehead Night powered by Nursing Specialties, Inc., and Bike Night, sponsored by Cajun – Harley Davidson! It is also Scout Night and Star Trek Night. The first four hundred fans in paid attendance will receive a Lyle Mouton bobble head doll, and the first one hundred fans, ages 21 and older, will receive a free shot glass. Mouton will also be in attendance for the night’s contest, and there will be a post game fireworks show courtesy of C&G Boats!
