Late Inning Heroics

The Cane Cutters look to continue their winning ways today as they started their 2-game series with the East Texas Pumpjacks in Tyler, TX.


Cord Cokrell started on the mound for the Cane Cutters, allowing 0 runs in his masterful 7 innings of work. He had 3 strikeouts and gave up 5 hits, without allowing a walk.


Eddie Dionne took the mound for the Pumpjacks and pitched very well, holding the Cane Cutters to 0 runs in his 6 innings of work. He allowed 4 hits and struck out 2 batters.


The Cane Cutters defense was extremely impressive. 


Catcher Alex Tucker showed off his arm as he threw out Dillan Argo at 3rd base in the bottom of the 5th inning.


One inning later, Cummings made a great diving catch over his right shoulder in right field. He robbed Friedl of a possible extra base hit.


Scott Szush took over the pitching duties in the 8th inning for the Cane Cutters. He continued the pitching dominance allowing 0 runs through 2 innings of work.


After 9 innings without a run, the Cane Cutters scored in the top of the 10th inning. Keating started the inning off with a single. 


Next batter Alex Tucker put down the bunt and Keating moved to 2nd base.


Cummings hit a single thereafter and Keating ended up scoring the 1st run of the game.


Clarkson then doubled and Cummings moved to 3rd base. Seward hit a sacrifice fly ball and Cummings came around to score the 2nd run, giving the Cane Cutters a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the 10thinning.


Alec Sanchez came into the ballgame and picked up his first save of the season for the Cane Cutters.


Scott Szush got the win for the Cane Cutters, while Bernhard takes the loss for the Pumpjacks.


The Cane Cutters will stay in Tyler, TX to finish up their 2-game series with the Pump Jacks tomorrow, June 5, 2015 at 7:05 PM.


They will return home Saturday June 6th against the Generals. Game 2 of the series will be played on a Duhon’s Slippery Sunday. All kids can take turns on the Water Slide for FREE from 6-7pm. 


June 7th is also Star Wars night! All fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters and take picture with members of the 501st.
