The Cane Cutters are proud to announce that Lafayette Native Taylor Dugas, is the first Cane Cutter to make it to the bigs!

Dugas played in the Inaugural season with the Cane Cutters back in 2011. He was voted Texas Collegiate League MVP and finished his Cane Cutter Career with a 336 Batting Average.
 
Due to the injury of New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran, Dugas got the call up Wednesday morning. He has a career MiLB Batting Average of .281 and has been back and forth with Trenton Thunder (AA) and Wilkes Barre Scranton Rail Ridders (AAA)
 
Dugas was drafted in the 8th round by the New York Yankees back in 2012.

The Outfielder played ball at Teurlings and would sign with the University of Alabama.

While playing with the Tide, he was selected all SEC four times and was named All-American for three. He Ranks in the top-10 in 14 different statistical categories at Alabama: holds the school records for hits (334), singles (235), doubles (67) and triples (18). Dugas ranks second all-time at UA in games started (239), at-bats (927), and walks (151). His career .360 batting average is seventh best all time, while his .466 on-base percentage is fourth best all-time. He also ranks fourth with six intentional walks and 39 hit by pitch. Is fifth in games played (241), sixth in total bases with 479, and eighth in sacrifice bunts with 18.
