Cane Cutters Fall

07/22/2015 9:16 AM -

Your Cane Cutters lost  today to the Marshall’s 8-6. They were behind 8-2 but were able to rally to close the score up but fell just short.

Michael Hanchar (Nicholls State) started for the Cane Cutters and was pitching well and got run support as the Cane Cutters jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after scoring 1 run in the bottom of the second  and the bottom of the third. Hanchar pitched 4.0 innings while allowing 3 hits, with a walk.

The Cane Cutters started with the lead early as one run would score in the bottom of the second. It began with Joe Robbins (ULL) doubling. Next up was Connor Short (University of Alabama), 2-3 with a run scored, who would single for his first hit of the night. With runners on the corners the catcher, Alex Tucker (Nicholls State) would hit a sacrifice fly to right field to make the score 1-0. Tucker was 0-3 on the night, but had 2 RBIs.

In the very next inning the Cane Cutters were able to score again to make it 2-0. It was in part to a leadoff single from left fielder Zac Kutsulis (Notre Dame) who was 1-3 with an RBI. After he moved to third base up came Chance Vincent (University of Alabama) who would then hit another sacrifice fly to right field to score Kutsulis.

The game got away from the Cane Cutters though after Hanchar was pulled. The starting pitcher for the Marshalls Connor Comacho pitched 6.0 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs.

With his good pitching and increased run support the Cane Cutters fell behind 8-2 but tried to rally and fell just short.

The Cane Cutters are back in action against the Marshals Wednesday, and take on the Brazos Valley Bombers Thursday and Friday.

Friday 7/24 will be extra special at Fabacher Field as the Cajun Chicken will be here for his very own Bobblehead Night presented by Quality Companies. The first 400 paid customers will receive his bobblehead as well as seeing him put on his famous routines. The game will conclude with Fireworks, by C&G Boats.
