Bombers Take Game 1

08/05/2015 9:45 AM -

The Cane Cutters drop game one of a two game series, 9-0 to Brazos Valley Bombers. The Cane Cutters move to 15-12 as the Bombers are now 20-5.

Not a good start to the game for the Cane Cutters as they trailed 4-0 after the first inning. The starting pitcher Scott Szush (University of New Orleans) pitched 3 innings allowing 6 hits, with 5 runs. He was replaced by Wilmer Nunez (Ranger College) who would pitch 2.1 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 runs.

The Cane Cutters did load the bases in the bottom of the seventh. Braedon Barret (Northwestern State) had a pinch hit double to start the inning. Jalen Haskins (Pearl River Community College) would then single to put runners at the corners. Next up was Zak Kutsulis (Notre Dame) who would reach on a walk to load the bases with 2 outs. However the team would strand all 3 runners going into the eighth inning.

The Bombers would go onto score 5 more runs to win 9-0.

August 6th will be Superhero night as the Cane Cutters will celebrate the first responders here in Lafayette. First responders and four of their family members will get in free, thanks to Mark Garber. There will also be a $500 gift card giveaway. $1 off tickets for any fan that dresses as a superhero.

On Friday, August 7th, the regular season concludes with Fan Appreciation Night and the C&G

Boats Shirt off the Back promotion! The camo jerseys worn by the players each Friday night will

be available to fans, some in silent auction, and some in a drawing, immediately after the game

as the players pull them off. It’s a great photo opportunity! Come out and help us end the

summer league season with some momentum before the playoffs.

On Saturday, August 8th, the Acadiana Cane Cutters will host their first ever home playoff game

at 7:00. Our goal is to PACK THE PARK, and so we are encouraging all of our fans to come

and support the team! We play the Victoria Generals in a single elimination round, and if we win, we will move on to the championship series.
