Bombers Take 2

08/06/2015 9:23 AM -

The Cane Cutters lose a close one, to the Bombers, 11-8. The Cane Cutters drop to 15-13 as the Bombers are now 21-5.

It was a promising start as the Cane Cutters took a 1-0 lead after the first inning. Daniel Keating (Southern Miss) started the game as he reached on a walk. Keating would then steal second as he was 3-4 with 3 runs scored and a stolen base. He would then move to third on a wild pitch and Joe Robbins (ULL), 2-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, would hit a sacrifice fly to score Keating.

The Bombers would score 2 runs to lead.

The Cane Cutters would take the lead with a run in the bottom of the third before the Bombers would answer with 4 runs in the top of the fourth to put them up 6-2.

Jared Taylor (University of New Orleans) got the start and pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 8 runs with 2 strikeouts.

Trailing 8-4 in the bottom of the seventh the team would score 3 more runs as they tried to get back in the game. The Cane Cutters would load the bases off singles by Keating, Robbins, and Chance Vincent (University of Alabama). Next up was Adam Yacek (Miami of Ohio) who would get an RBI by driving in Keating. Robbins and Vincent would both come in to score on a Bombers error. The team trailed 8-7 after 7 innings.

However the Bombers would score 3 more runs in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach.
