Aggies and Cane Cutters Unite

04/26/2012 9:04 PM -

The Cane Cutters have added three players from the #9 ranked Texas A&M Aggies. Blake Allemand, Mitchell Nau, and Andrew Brown will be making their way to south Louisiana this summer when they join forces with the Acadiana Cane Cutters to aid in their quest for the 2012 Texas Collegiate League Title.

The 5’10 third baseman, Blake Allemand, has shown bolts of brilliance this season, appearing in 36 of the Aggies 41 games this season. As a Big-12 freshman Allemand is currently sitting on an astounding .302 batting average.  In addition to his batting average, Allemand is giving opposing pitchers problems at the plate this season by combining a number of different ways to reach the base paths, posting a .395 on base percentage. This ranks Allemand in the top half of the starting lineup for an Aggie team that is seemingly stacked from top to bottom.

Allemand was a highly touted high school player from the state of Texas. During his high school career he was awarded first team all-district honors for three straight seasons in addition to his player of the year and all-state achievements his senior season. The success in the batter’s box for Texas A&M should come as no surprise for many. Allemand finished his final three high school seasons batting well over .400 with a career high of .480 for his senior year.

The second Aggie joining the Cane Cutters is the 6’5, 245 pound freshman infielder, Andrew Brown. Brown will likely take a redshirt for the Aggies this season.

Brown, a College Station native, played his high school baseball at A&M Consolidated High School where he achieved a number of different honors, including second team all-state and district 12-5A MVP.

Mitchell Nau, a 5’10 freshmen, has primarily played the catcher and designated hitter roles for Texas A&M this season. Nau has appeared in 17 games with eight those being a starter. For the season he has accumulated a .257 batting average to go along with his 30 defensive putouts.

During Nau’s high school senior season, he launched 13 homeruns on top of sustaining a .435 batting average. He was also named first team all-district and second team all-state. Nau’s power at the plate will be on full display at Fabacher Field this summer.

The Cane Cutters will open the season Friday, June 1st when they take on the Alexandria Aces at Fabacher Field. Season tickets are on sale now through the Cane Cutters box office at Fabacher Field, 221 La Neuville Rd. Youngsville, Louisiana or by calling 337-451-6852.
