The Acadiana Cane Cutters bounced back from their loss to the Brazos Valley Bombers last night in a 7-5 win against the Woodland Strykers Wednesday night in the first game of a two-game series.

The Cane Cutters improved their record to 6-2 and are now 3-0 against the Strykers on the season.

In Wednesday night’s matchup, the Cane Cutters jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the first inning, but the Strykers managed to pull to within one by the end of the third.

Defense took over the game until the seventh when the Cane Cutters added two runs, only to be matched by two runs from the Strykers.

Acadiana added one more run in the ninth and held off the Strykers in the first game of the series.

Acadiana’s Cobie Vance, one of the big SEC recruits who joined the team recently after his season at Alabama ended, led the team with four hits on five at bats. Vance comboed that with a run and two RBI’s.

Jaylon Keys of Meridian Community College also had a solid performance, hitting two of his three at bats, and garnered three RBI’s.

After tomorrow night’s game with the Strykers, the Cane Cutters return to Fabacher Field to play the Victoria Generals on Friday at 7 p.m.
