Former MLB's Luke Montz to be next Cane Cutters Head Coach

Former MLB player and current Acadiana High school Assistant Coach Luke Montz will be the new head coach of the Acadiana Cane Cutters.

Luke Montz, who spent ten years in Major League Baseball with the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals, New York Mets, Florida Marlins, Oakland A’s, and Boston Red Sox.

Current Head Coach Austin Flores will be coaching his last game for the Cane Cutters on Sunday against the Victoria Generals.

Montz is currently the Assistant Coach of the Acadiana High Wreckin’ Rams baseball team. The former big leaguer led the Rams all the way to the semifinals last year.

The Lafayette native had his best season in his professional playing days for the New Orleans Zephyrs where hit 29 homeruns and 74 RBI’s.

Montz will bring his wealth of MLB playing knowledge to the Cane Cutters as this 2016 squad is looking to capture their first Texas Collegiate League title since they started in 2011.
