Cane Cutters Lose First Game of Two to Bombers

06/08/2012 4:39 PM -

The Cane Cutters (2-3) could not stop the Brazos Valley Bombers (4-1) at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark from winning their fourth game in a row.  The Cane Cutters collected nine hits but could only produce three runs, all of them being in the first inning.  While getting runners on base, they could not find a way to bring them home with seven runners left on base.

The Cane Cutters were led by Adam Seal (2-4, 2B).  The rest of their hits were spread out amongst the Cane Cutters with no other player getting more than one hit.  Andrew Brown had the only RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning.

Zac Person (0-1) started his first game of the year for the Cane Cutters and ended up with the loss.  He pitched seven innings, gave up seven hits, four earned runs, walked three and struck out six.  Merrick Ardoin came in relief for his second game of the year and pitched one inning striking out two.

Isaac Rodriguez, from the University of Southern Miss, joined the Cane Cutters and played his first game of the year alongside his Southern Miss teammate, Austin Roussel.

The Cane Cutters will play game two of two at Brazos Valley tomorrow night hoping to split the two game series before heading home on Friday to play a two game series at Fabacher Field.
