Generals hang on to beat Cane Cutters, 5-4

07/24/2016 10:44 AM - The Victoria Generals hang on to beat the Acadiana Cane Cutters, 5-4 on a warm Saturday night at Fabacher Field. The Cane Cutters got on the board first with a two-run double to right center from Dane Geisler from Indiana State. The Cutters were up 3-0 in the third inning when the Generals came back with three runs of their own on an RBI single from Levi Zents and two more from a wild pitch and sacrifice fly tying the game up at 3. A throwing error in the 4th inning led to the Generals scoring a run and taking the lead 4-3. Zents added an RBI single in sixth inning to give Victoria a 5-3 lead. Acadiana responded in the last of the 7th inning when Matthew Guidry from Southern Mississippi knocked in Cobie Vance from Alabama from third to make it a 5-4 Generals lead. The Cane Cutters will be off for the next two days before beginning another two game series with these same Generals on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
