TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama rising sophomore Cobie Vance was named the fourth-best prospect in the Texas Collegiate League this summer, as selected by Baseball America.

Vance spent the summer playing 38 games for the Acadiana Cane Cutters, batting .303 (44-145) – a total that ranked seventh in the league – with six doubles and a pair of triples while adding 22 RBI and 23 runs scored. He also contributed nine stolen bases and 16 walks to his totals and finished with a .303/.376/.372 slash line. Defensively, Vance saw time at second base, third base and shortstop.

Baseball America said of Vance:
"Alabama's everyday second baseman as a freshman this spring, Vance showed some impressive versatility over the summer with Acadiana, handling himself well at second base, third base and shortstop. An unsigned 16th-round pick in 2015, he stands just 5-foot-8 and while he doesn't have any flashy tools, he can do a lot of things well. Vance shows a discerning eye at the plate and has a knack for being a pesky out. He makes plenty of contact, and although he's not a burner, he's fast enough to be a threat on the bases, stealing nine in 38 games in the TCL while batting .303/.376/.372."

In 2016, Vance was one of only two Crimson Tide players to start every game. He finished his freshman season ranked second on the team in hits (58) and walks (25) and was tied for the team lead in hits during Southeastern Conference play with 21. One of the top performers for the Alabama offense, Vance registered two seven-game hitting streaks, a six-game streak and a five-game streak throughout the 2016 campaign.
