Youngsville, LA (May 24, 2017)-Southeastern Louisiana freshman Trey Morgan, LSU-Eunice sophomore Gavin Bourgeois and Minot State University junior Justin Damary have agreed to join the Cane Cutters for the 2017 season.

Morgan, a third baseman at Southeastern Louisiana, came off the bench during his freshman season and found himself in the starting lineup in six regular season games. He finished the season 5-for-29 with 3 runs batted in, 4 walks and a stolen base. Morgan also posted a perfect fielding percentage.

Bourgeois was a constant presence in the Tiger’s outfield as well as on the basepaths during his sophomore season. He finished with a .339 batting average, .431 on base percentage and then added 34 stolen bases en route to scoring 53 runs in 49 games.

Damary also excelled in getting on base during the 2017 collegiate season, hitting .288 with an on base percentage of .397 over the course of 46 games, all of which he started. He too was a successful base stealer, converting 84.6% of his attempted steals (11-of-13) on the year.

Both Damary and Morgan mentioned the fun-loving atmosphere at Fabacher Field as one of the reasons they chose the Cane Cutters as their destination for summer baseball, as well as the high quality of the entire Texas Collegiate League. Damary commented that “I picked the Cane Cutters because I’ve known people...who have played [for the Cane Cutters] and they talked about how much fun they had...and I’m most excited about being able to play ball close to home because I go to school in North Dakota so getting to play local is something I look forward to.”

Come cheer on Justin and the rest of Cane Cutters as they work to reach the TCL Championship for the 3rd consecutive season!
