Long Ball Powers Cane Cutters Victory

06/30/2017 11:05 PM -

Co-Players of the Game Trenton Trosclair (Southeastern Louisiana) and Brady Bell (Nichols St) were two of four Acadiana starters to record multiple hits on the night, finishing 2-for-4 with a triple, home run and six runs batted in and 5-for-6 with three runs scored and two runs batted in respectively. The Cane Cutters struck early and often, with five runs in the first three innings courtesy of a Trey Morgan (Southeastern Louisiana) two run home run in the top of the second, a Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) RBI single, and Trosclair’s triple to drive in two more. During that time, the Twins would score three runs of their own to keep the game close with Acadiana leading 5-3. The Cane Cutters would add another in the top of the sixth before Texarkana pulled within one at 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh. Bell and Trosclair would then break the game open in the eighth with an RBI single and grand slam, respectively, to put the Cane Cutters up 11-5. Montenegro and Bell would each record their second RBI singles of the night an inning later to push the lead to 13-5 and give Northwestern State’s Evan Daigle his first win of the season.

Trenton, Brady and the rest of the Cane Cutters will look to build off this Herculean offensive effort on Superhero Night at Fabacher Field on Saturday when they host the Victoria Generals. Gates will open at 6pm, and all first responders get in free courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings for a 7pm first pitch!
