Cutters Beat Generals, Move To 8-0 In 2nd Half

07/15/2017 10:45 PM -

Saturday night’s 10-5 win over the Victoria Generals pushes Acadiana’s win streak to 9 games overall, including eight in a row since the All-Star Break.

Logan Bottrell earned Player of the Game honors on Sunday due to his performance at the plate. Logan finished 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in to go along with a pair of walks.

As has been the case throughout the winning streak, Acadiana drew first blood, going ahead 6-0 in the bottom of the second inning despite getting just one hit in the whole frame. Four walks, two hit batsmen and a 2-run double by Bottrell provided the scoring in the second before the teams traded runs in the third, with the Cane Cutters run coming on an RBI groundout by Jonathan Artigues (Tulane). Three more runs for Victoria in the top of 4th brought them back to within three at 7-4 before the Cutters answered in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own thanks to a Handsome Monica (ULL) RBI single that scored Bottrell. Victoria would manage to pull another run back in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 8-5, but a 2-run single by Monica in the 7th would stretch the lead to five and round out the scoring

Logan and the rest of the Cane Cutters will look to finish off the sweep and extend their win streak into double-digit territory on Sunday as they wrap up their two game series versus Victoria.
