Cane Cutters Win Big on Road against Marshals
            The Cane Cutters were able to get an easy win tonight after a tough game last night where they lost by only one run. The Cane Cutters played the McKinney Marshals for the first time this season and won by the score of 9-3.
            The Cane Cutters wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard. They started off the top of the first inning with the leadoff batter, Mike Barba, getting on base by the way of a single. He was able to move up to second on a stolen base. The next batter, Isaac Rodriguez, advanced Barba over to third with a groundout to the pitcher. Andrew Brown came up to bat after Mitchell Nau walked and drove in the first run of the game when he singled. Three batters later, Alex Marse was able to get on first by the way of an error by the shortstop which also brought in two more runs.
            In the third inning, the Cane Cutters were able to put another run on the board. Nau led off the inning and doubled extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Two batters later, Ladd Rhodes drove in Nau to up their lead to 4-0.
            In the next inning, the Cane Cutters were able to add three more runs really putting the pressure on the Marshals. Barba got on first by the way of a walk. He advanced to second on an error by the first baseman. Rodriguez advanced him over to third with a single. The next batter, Nau, was able to drive in Barba with a single. Brown came up next and walked to load the bases. During the next at-bat, Rodriguez was able to come home on a wild pitch for the second run of the inning. Gabe Woods was the next batter and singled which brought home Nau.
            In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Marshals were finally able to get on the board when Jackson Morris hit into a fielder’s choice that brought in KJ Alexander. This put the score at 7-1 in favor of the Cane Cutters.
            In the fifth inning, the Cane Cutters added another run when Nau singled which brought home Braxton Lee. 
            The Marshals put two more runs on the board during the next two innings. In the sixth, Morris singled bringing home Alexander. In the seventh, Hayden Simerly grounded out to shortstop scoring Krey Braston making the score 8-3 in favor of the Cane Cutters.
            The Cane Cutters added one more run in the eighth inning to make the score 9-3 which would be the final score.
            The Cane Cutters were led by Nau offensively. Nau went 3-5, scoring 3 runs, 2 RBIs and 1 walk. Barba, Brown and Lee also contributed to the Cane Cutters offense. Barba went 3-5 scoring 2 runs and walking once. Brown went 2-3 scoring two runs, 1 RBI and 1 walk. Lee went 2-5 scoring 1 run. Woods also extended his hitting streak to six games.
            Kaleb Manual started his fourth game of the season and got his fourth win of the season putting his record at 4-0 for the season. He pitched six innings giving up three runs on six hits, walking two and striking out three. Andrew Richardson came in relief of manual and pitched two shutout innings giving up no hits, no runs and striking out two. Merrick Ardoin also pitched one shutout inning giving up no hits and no runs.
            The Cane Cutters upped their record to 9-7 on the season and the Marshals are now 2-14. The Cane Cutters will play one more game against the Marshals before traveling back home to play at Fabacher Field against the Victoria Generals on Saturday, June 23 for Surprise Saturday, and again on Slippery Sunday, with a Waterslide at the park, free from 6:00-7:00. Hope to see you at Fabacher Field this weekend.
