The Acadiana Cane Cutters are excited to announce the addition of four new players to the roster this season from the University of Southern Mississippi. Joining the 2018 team are Drew Boyd, Storme Cooper, Sean Tweedy and Fred Franklin.

LHP Boyd (freshman)- making his college debt at Southern Mississippi this Spring. Boyd is from Hattiesburg, MS and as a senior hit .422 with 12 doubles, 8 home runs, and 46 RBI. Due to injury, didn’t pitch all of his senior season but compiled an impressive 4-0 record with a save in just 5 appearances. We are excited to see what Boyd has to offer on the mound this summer for the Cane Cutters.

INF Cooper (junior)- from Wentzville, MO, started playing for Southern Miss. in 2016. As a freshman, Cooper started 41 of 57 games at second base. As a sophomore, he hit .255 with 26 runs scored and had 21 RBI in 49 appearances, including 28 starts at second base.

LHP Tweedy (sophomore)- from Mandeville, LA, as a senior in high school he was named first-team All-State. In his freshman year at Southern Miss. he made 11 appearances, all out of the bullpen and had an ERA of 3.00. In 2018, Tweedy has held his opponents hitless in 3 appearances.

OF Franklin (junior)- impressive transfer from Jones Junior College. Helped Jones to a 100-13 record and MACJC championship in his 2 years with the team. As a sophomore, Franklin hit .356 with 8 HR’s, 41 RBI, and a conference leading 43 stolen bases. Also named Defensive Player of the Tournament as he helped the Bobcats capture the NJCAA Division II World Series.
