Cane Cutters Down But Not Out

06/23/2012 11:17 PM -
PRESS RELEASE: JUNE 23, 2012 Immediate Release
As the Sun sets in Youngsville, excitement builds in Fabacher Field. Coming in with a (10-7) record, the Acadiana Cane Cutters faced the (10-7) Victoria Generals. The Cane Cutters fought hard against the Generals, but with the six strikeouts thrown by Generals’ Covey Morrow, the Cane Cutters were unable to overcome the 4-0 deficit.
The game started off pretty slow, only seeing one hit for the first two innings. During the 3rd inning it seemed that errors plagued the Cane Cutters allowing three of the four runs to score. The Generals’ Carter Mangum earned the game’s first RBI dropping a single bringing in Trace Knoblauch. During the bottom of the fourth Mitchell Nau singled for the Cane Cutter's first hit.  Sadly he would be left on base after Andrew Brown was put out for the third out of the inning.
The Cane Cutters were limited to four hits on the night.  The Generals scored four runs, with only one being earned, on four hits with two Cane Cutter errors.  Sean Kennel, of the Cane Cutters, earned a total of four strikeouts and played the entire game.
The Cane Cutters will look forward to tomorrow night’s game at Fabacher Field, when they once again take on the Generals, looking for revenge.  Remember to bring a bathing suit and towel for the kids because there will be a waterslide provided by Duhon's Fun Jumps for our Slippery Sundays, free from 6:00 to 7:00. We hope to see you at there.
