Cutters Fall To Bombers In Game Two

07/19/2018 10:48 PM -

YOUNGSVILLE, La. (July 19, 2018)- The Acadiana Cane Cutters fell to the Brazos Valley Bombers in the series finale 7-4.

The Cane Cutters scored two runs in the second inning on a home run hit by right fielder Cole Secrest (Lamar University). This bomb over the left field wall marks Secrest’s third home run of the summer.

Nathan Gabryszwski (Lamar University), the designated hitter for the Cane Cutters, drove in two runs on an RBI single in the third inning. Storme Cooper (University of Southern Mississippi), Kyle Bayles (Mississippi State), and Rhett McCall (Lamar University) all singled to give Gabryszwski a bases loaded situation.

The Cane Cutters could not succeed in putting more runs on the board but did provide some strong defensive plays. Third baseman Chandler Morris (Texas A&M) fielded a double play and a groundout to finish off the Bombers in the top of the second. The Cutters turned over two more double plays in the game, including an unexpected play in the third inning involving the Bombers’ center fielder. With a runner on first, Bombers two-hole hitter Casey Danley attempted to play off a hit as a foul but was put out as Morris fielded the ball and threw to first. The runner on third dashed for home after Morris released the ball, but the Cutters were able to quickly throw it home for the double play.

The Cutters will be back at Fabacher Field again tomorrow (7/20) against the Victoria Generals. It is Super Hero Night! Gates open at 6 PM and first pitch is at 7 PM for all home games. To get weekly updates on the team and other fun theme nights coming up, please visit our website and subscribe to our newsletter.
