YOUNGSVILLE, La. (August 6, 2018)- The Acadiana Cane Cutters began the summer with a split against the Texas Marshals and now they have ended the season with another split. The Cane Cutters beat the Marshals 6-4 on Monday night.

Miguel Reyes (Hutchinson Community College) put the Cutters on the board with a double in the fourth inning and proceeded to steal third on an error. Nathan Miranda (UL- Monroe) drove Reyes in with a single. Rowe Stipe (Hendrix), who had pitched a scoreless third, also doubled to start off the fifth. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a hit off the bat of Rhett McCall (Lamar University). The third run for the Cane Cutters was scored by Ragin’ Cajun Alex Hannie (ULL) after being hit by a pitch. Chandler Morris (Texas A&M) put the Cutters ahead with a three-run home run in the seventh inning and then came in to pitch a scoreless eighth.

The Cutters had some great defense from Jimmy Dobrash (ULL) who made a diving catch in left field to get the second out of the fourth inning. Dobrash, who usually pitched for the Cutters, also managed to get his first hit since high school.

The Cane Cutters will face the Brazos Valley Bombers in a playoff game on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Travis Field in Bryan, Texas.
