The Cane Cutters were able to pull out a tough win against the second place Brazos Valley Bombers in Bryan, TX by the score of 7-5.  They scored seven runs on sixteen hits.

The Bombers struck first in the bottom of the first inning.  Chris Florack and Myles Parma came around to score on a Nick Smelser double with two outs in the inning.  Florack and Parma had gotten on base with singles.  At the end of the first inning, the Bombers were up by the score of 2-0.

The Cane Cutters struck right back by putting up four runs in the top of the second inning.  Gabe Woods and Ladd Rhodes scored on an error by the pitcher in which tied the game at 2-2.  Alex Marse scored on a passed ball and later in the same at-bat Isaac Rodriguez singled to score Braxton Lee.  This put the Cane Cutters up 4-2 after two and a half innings.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Bombers’ Brennyn Smith doubled to score Brandon Wood which would cut the score to 4-3 in favor of the Cane Cutters.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Cane Cutters added to their lead by putting one run on the board.  Mike Barba was able to get on first base with an error by the first baseman which scored Marse.  The Cane Cutters now led the game by the score of 5-3.

Mitchell Nau came up in the top of the eighth inning with the bases loaded and delivered for the Cane Cutters.  He singled and drove in Lee.  Barba was also able to come home in the inning making the score 7-3 after eight and a half innings.

The Bombers added one run to cut into the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning.  James Wathon singled to lead off the bottom half of the inning, advanced to second on a passed ball and then came around to score on a single by Smelser.

The Bombers were down by three runs going into the bottom half of the ninth inning and were hoping to string together some hits to put some runs on the board.  They were able to load the bases but were only able to bring home one run in the inning which was not enough to overcome the deficit.  The final score ended up being in favor of the Cane Cutters 7-5.

The star of the game for the Cane Cutters was Marse who went 4-5 in the game.  He doubled and had two runs scored.  They also had other players that contributed to the offense.  Nau went 3-5 with 2 RBIs.  Barba went 2-5 with a double and one run scored.  Seal went 2-4.  Lee went 2-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
