South beats North in All-Star Game

07/10/2012 12:57 AM -

The seven Cane Cutters’ players helped the TCL South team beat the TCL North team by the score of 10-2.  The South jumped all over the North early and never looked back.

The Cane Cutters had a great showing at the All-Star game.  Isaac Rodriguez batted first in the lineup and started at shortstop for the South.  He went 1-2 with one RBI, one run and one walk.  His only hit of the game was a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Mitchell Nau batted third in the lineup and started at catcher.  He went 0-3 with one run scored.  Adam Seal hit cleanup and started at first base.  He went 1-2 with two runs scored and a walk.  Seal started the scoring for the South in the bottom of the second inning when he drew a walk to lead off the inning and then later came around to score.

Gabe Woods started at third base and batted eighth in the lineup.  He went 1-4 with one RBI.  Woods only hit in the game was a double in the bottom of the fourth inning that also gave him his only RBI of the game.  Braxton Lee subbed into the game in the top of the sixth inning.  He walked in his two plate appearances and scored a run.

The Cane Cutters had two pitchers that made the All-Star team.  Kelby Langston came in relief in the third inning.  He pitched the top of the third inning giving up no runs, hits or walks.  Ben Suit also came in relief in the top of the fifth inning.  He pitched one inning giving up two earned runs on three hits, two walks and one strikeout.

The Cane Cutters will return to action tomorrow night against the Victoria Generals at Riverside Stadium in Victoria, TX.  They hope to continue from the win they earned against the league leading Pump Jacks right before the All-Star game.  They will return home to Fabacher Field on Wednesday, July 11 (Ladies Night) to take on the McKinney Marshals.  This will begin a three-game series with the Marshals and a five-game home stretch.  We hope to see you there.
