Cane Cutters Fall to Victoria Generals 4-1

07/10/2012 10:02 PM -

The Cane Cutters were not able to hold on against the Victoria Generals at tonight's game in Riverside Stadium, following the All Stars game on Monday.

Will Mathis started pitching for the Cane Cutters. After three innings,  the Generals scored a run on a single by Wagner scoring Trace Knoblauch.

In the top of the 5th, the Cane Cutters answered when Ladd Rhodes hit a double, and then scored on a ball hit by Gabe Woods.  Generals were unable to respond in the 5th.

In the 7th inning, the Victoria Generals caught a few breaks, when Alex Klonowski advances to 1st on an error by the shortstop, Vidrine is intentionally walked, and Stumph hits a single, and scores Klonowski.   Cutters change pitchers to Shimp and then to Andrew Richardson, after Vidrine scores and bases are loaded.  Stumph scores when Wagner is hit by a pitch to advance to first.  Richardson then strikes out the next two to retire the side after the Generals scored 3 in the inning..

The Cane Cutter bats stayed silent, and 4-1 would be the final score.  Mathis gets the loss, and the Cane Cutters return home tonight.  They will be back at Fabacher Field tomorrow night for a 3 game stand against the McKinney Marshalls.  Wednesday and Thursday night games will be broadcast on ESPN 1420 AM, while at the field Wednesday night will be ladies night, with $2 margaritas and wine specials.  Thursday night will be $1 Bud and Bud Lite night, and Friday is Fiery Friday Fireworks by C&G Boats.  The Cane Cutters baseball camp is July 12 and 13 for $75.  Visit www.canecuttersbaseball.com for details on the camp.
