On Monday Morning, Head Coach Lonny Landry made his final additions to the 2013 Acadiana Cane Cutters' roster.

The countdown to the first pitch of the 2013 Texas Collegiate League season is underway. Only 24 days remain until summer baseball is back in Acadiana. On Monday morning, Head Coach Lonny Landry and Cane Cutters’ Front Office cemented the Opening Night roster with the addition of some household names. University of Louisiana infielders Sam Carriere and Brenn Conrad, Nicholls State pitchers Justin Sinibaldi and Jacob Rodrigue, and University of Alabama infielder Chance Vincent are the final pieces to what should be considered a championship caliber roster.

The Ragin’ Cajun’s own Sam Carriere will don the Cane Cutters’ red and blue this summer. The ULL infielder is a junior from Norco, near New Orleans, where he attended Destrehan High School. At shortstop and third base this season, Carriere has completed 21 putouts, 4 double plays, and has 34 assists. In 18 starts this spring, he has gathered 12 runs scored, 5 RBIs, and 5 extra base hits, including one long ball. Before transferring to ULL, Carriere was a member of the LSU-Eunice Bengals where he raked as a freshman and sophomore. During his stay, Carriere hit well above .300 en route to helping Eunice secure the Junior College National Championship in 2012.

Brenn Conrad will join his fellow ULL teammate by taking the diamond this summer at Fabacher Field. Conrad, a freshman from Lafayette High, is beginning to give the Ragin’ Cajuns some quality looks as ULL gets deeper into the season. Conrad has one start with thirteen total appearances. He has 3 hits, 2 runs scored, and has shown maturity and discipline at the plate, earning 4 base on-balls in 14 at-bats.

Nicholls State Colonels’ freshman righty Justin Sinibaldi will join the Cane Cutters’ stable of arms this summer. Sinibaldi, originally from Kenner, Louisiana, played his high school ball at Archbishop Rummel High School. The 6’3”, 200 pound slinger has only seen limited action for the Colonels in 2013. In 8.2 innings of work, the freshman has tallied 3 strikeouts and earned a 6.24 ERA.

Sophomore pitcher Jacob Rodrigue will also join the Acadiana staff from Nicholls State University. Rodrigue, from Thibodeaux, attended D. White Catholic High and will add to the bevvy of Louisiana talent found at Fabacher Field this summer. Rodrigue spent last summer with the TCL affiliate Alexandria Aces where he earned a 2-2 record and one save over 12 appearances. This spring, Rodrigue has pitched 14 frames from the bump for the Colonels. He owns a 5.65 ERA and 9 strikeouts on the season.

The Cane Cutters also announced another addition from the University of Alabama this morning. The Crimson Tide will send freshman infielder and Acadiana High School graduate Chance Vincent to suit up for the Cutters this summer. As a freshman, Vincent has seen only a taste action for Alabama this spring, but that won’t deter the young Scott, Louisiana native from being a big part of Cane Cutters’ summer plans. Vincent joined Alabama as a three-time all district selection and first-teamer in 2011 and 2012.
