Cane Cutters Sign Four Southern Miss Golden Eagles

Cane Cutters Sign Returning Player & Three Louisiana Natives from Southern Miss
Pitchers Matthew Adams, Tanner Hall, Will Tynes, and IF/OF Michael Latulas on Board for 2021 Season

Lafayette, La. – With the upcoming TCL season, the Cane Cutters are excited to have four players from the University of Southern Miss (Hattiesburg, MS) join the Cutters in 2021. The Cane Cutters will bring in pitchers Matthew Adams, Tanner Hall, Will Tynes, and IF/OF Michael Latulas for the upcoming 2021 season. The talent of these players will bring in some great baseball and excitement for the Cane Cutters, their fans, and the community.

Right hander Matthew Adams is a COVID/freshman from Pearland, Texas. Adams attended Pearland High School with tremendous stats through his high school career. He is one of our returning players from the 2020 season, in which he appeared in 12 games for the Cane Cutters. In 2020 for Southern Miss, Matthew had impressive outings with the Golden Eagles only allowing a .205 batting average against opposing hitters. Matthew was also on the President’s List for his academic achievements in the fall semester of 2020. 

Tanner Hall is a right-handed pitcher from Zachary, Louisiana. The freshman attended Zachary High School and, also made the LHSCA All-Star East team in 2020. In his game against South Alabama this year, he earned a G-ERA of 2.70 with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed in 3.1 innings. Tanner also made it on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2020 fall semester. 

The right-handed pitcher Will Tynes is a freshman from Bossier City, Louisiana. Tynes attended Airline High School where he had a substantial high school career. While making an appearance with LHSCA All-Star West team in 2020, Will was also recognized by Perfect Game as the 10th best baseball player and 2nd best right-handed pitcher in the state with the Vikings. Tynes was even named to the Dean’s List for the 2020 fall semester at Southern Miss.

The IF/OF Michael Latulas is a freshman from New Iberia, Louisiana. Latulas attended Loreauville High School where he showed tremendous batting skills by posting a .526 batting average. His other achievements include making it to the 2020 LHSCA All- Star West team, being named the 2019 Class 2A Hitter of the Year, and winning the Class 2A Championship with the Tigers in 2018. He has since shown his academic skills at Southern Miss by making the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2020 fall semester.

“We are excited to have Adams as a returning player for our squad,” says Coach Dukes. “Southern Miss always produces quality baseball players, and it’s great to have a few guys from Louisiana as well.”
