Cutters Drop Weekend Homestand Opener to Rougarou, 13-406/27/2025 10:52 AM -
The Cane Cutters returned home for the third game of their series against the Baton Rouge Rougarou, kicking off a new homestand. Unfortunately, things didn’t go Acadiana’s way, as they fell by a final score of 13-4. Baton Rouge wasted no time, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after the first two innings and never looking back. The game broke open in the top of the 5th, when the Rougarou erupted for eight runs, highlighted by a grand slam to right field from leadoff hitter Taylor Walters. All eight runs in the inning were charged to Harrington and Lejune. A bright spot for Acadiana came in the 7th inning, returner from the Cane Cutters 2024 team, Parker Gwyn, made his season debut in style with a two-run homer, giving the Cutters their first runs of the night. With the loss, the Cane Cutters fall to 11-9 on the season and now trail the Rougarou 1-2 in the head-to-head series. Baton Rouge improves to a league-best 17-3. Acadiana will look to bounce back and split the series in tomorrow night’s finale — first pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. on TCL TV. |
