Strykers Late Rally Ends Cutters' Streak

Collegiate baseball returned to Fabacher Field for the first contest after the 2013 All-Star break on Thursday night.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters returned to the diamond for their first contest following the 2013 Texas Collegiate League All-Star break on Thursday by hosting the Woodlands Strykers. The Cutters looked to extend their six game winning streak and increase their second-half lead in the TCL standings.

Acadiana took the lead early and held a two run advantage through much of the game Thursday night. However; the Strykers were able to mark up three runs on three hits and one walk in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead and eventually secure the win. Despite the loss, it was an impressive showing on the mound for Acadiana starter, Justin Sinibaldi. The Nicholls State Colonel sat down ten Woodlands batters on strikes, while allowing just two hits and no runs in seven complete innings. Shortstop Logan Taylor had himself another stellar performance as he continues to lead the team on the offensive side. The Texas A&M Aggie went 2-for-4 with a walk and also batted in both of the Cane Cutter runs.

The loss gives the Cane Cutters just their first of the month and is also the first loss of the second half of the season. Acadiana looks to bounce back tomorrow in game two of the two-game series against the Woodlands here at Fabacher.

Friday night is one of the most anticipated nights on the 2013 home schedule. The Hampton Inn & Suites Lafayette, Official Hotel of the Acadiana Cane Cutters, will host Hollywood Night at Fabacher Field. The first 100 through the gates will receive a brand new pair of sunglasses to complete their Sunset Strip style. The stars will be out early, as the University of Louisiana Lafayette Softball team will go head-to-head with Lafayette’s local media personalities from 103.7 the Game, KLFY, KATC, ESPN 1420, and FOX 15 before the game. The festivities begin at 6:15 with first pitch of the Cane Cutters’ game at 7:00. Don’t forget to stick around after the game for our C&G Boats Fireworks Friday show.
