Cane Cutters Dominating

06/07/2015 9:15 AM -

Your now 7-1 Acadiana Cane Cutters prevailed, as they faced the Victoria Generals, in the first game of a two game series. It was not easy as they rallied from an opening 5 run deficit.

Alert the bats woke up after the top of the 1st started out in not the most ideal way.

Trailing 5-0 after the top of the first your Cane Cutters slowly chipped away at the lead.

In the bottom of the first 2 runs came across to score.

The third baseman Taylor Braley started things off as he was the first to reach base safely. After a wild pitch Braley moved to second as in stepped in the first baseman Adam Yacek.

Yacek, 2-5 on the night with 4 RBIs, drove in Braley after a double to score the first run.

Bases then loaded up quickly as the right fielder Cameron Cummings stepped up to the plate.

The starting pitcher for the General, Ryan Fant, then walked Cummings to bring across the second run of the night. Fant pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 4 runs as he was quickly replaced.

The Cane Cutters then continued their scoring run as two more runs were pushed across to bring the score to 5-4. Alex Tucker started it off as he had an RBI single.

Bases were loaded again as another walk, this time to Leiff Clarkson, brought in another run to score.

Scott Szush who made a relief appearance at the top of the second continued to pitch strongly as the game went on. In four innings worked Szush allowed only 4 hits while striking out 3 of the batters he faced.

By the top of the seventh your Cane Cutters now held a 6-5 lead and would not look back from there.

A big triple from Adam Yacek in the bottom of the eight drove in 3 more insurance runs and that was it as your Cane Cutters prevailed 9-5.
