Cane Cutters Fall in Extras

07/15/2015 6:20 AM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters lost to drop to 4-5 in the second half of the season. It was a 5-2 loss as we had extra innings.

It was a fierce pitching battle between the two teams as both pitchers were dealing early and often.

The first runs of the game did not come until the East Texas Pumpjacks broke through with 2 runs in top of the 8th inning. They looked poised to hold on to the lead until a 2 run rally for your Cane Cutters in the bottom of the 9th inning.

The 2 runs came across to tie it up in the bottom of the 9th. It started off with 3 consecutive singles from Chance Vincent, James Ziegler, and Adam Yacek. James Ziegler was 1-6 on the evening with a run scored. With runners on first and second Adam Yacek’s single scored Vincent from 3rd to tie the game at 2-2.

The starting pitcher for both teams did not come up with the win. Starting for the Cane Cutters was Michael Hanchar. Hanchar pitched well as he pitched 4.0 innings allowing 1 hit with 4 strikeouts.  4 more pitchers would come to the mound for the Cane Cutters as the losing pitcher was Joey Cresta who pitched 1.2 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with 3 walks.

The Pumpjacks would put the game out of reach with 3 runs in the bottom of the 13th. Austin Millet would then come in and pitch .1 inning and face two batters.

After that the Cane Cutters would get men on the corners and fail to do anything in the bottom of the 13th, giving the win to the East Texas Pumpjacks.
