Your Cane Cutters got back to their winning ways as they beat the Woodland Strykers 4-2. This moves your Cane Cutters to 5-8 and the Strykers to 4-9.

 

The starting pitcher for the Cane Cutters was the Jared Taylor (University of New Orleans). Taylor pitched 7.0 innings allowing 8 hits with 1 run. He shook off a rough start in which the Strykers would score 1 run in the top of the first inning.

 

Your Cane Cutters would make up the 1 run deficit. It all started in the top of the 6th inning as 4 runs would come across to score. Chance Vincent (University of Alabama) would single. The next batter, Adam Yacek (Miami of Ohio), would also single. The Cane Cutters would then have James Ziegler (Chandler Gilbert Community College) advance to first after being hit by a pitch to load the bases. Joe Robbins (ULL) would then single to drive in a run to tie the game at 1-1. Jalen Haskins would keep the hits coming with another single to make the game 2-1.

 

During this big inning the Strykers would switch pitchers to Bryce Tomlin. Tomlin could not stop the Cane Cutters as 2 more runs would come across to score to make it 4-1.

 

Troy Whitty (LSU) would be the first reliever out of the bullpen for the Cane Cutters. He would pitch 1.0 innings, allowing 1 run  on 1 hit with 2 strikeouts.

 

The Strykers threatened to score more as 1 run did cross the plate in the top of the eigth inning. No more runs would come across as the Cane Cutters win 4-2.

 

The Cane Cutters will be in action here again at Fabacher Field tomorrow night, July 19th. It will be Dog Days of Summer sponsored by Camp Bow Wow, as fans can bring their dogs out to the park for a pooch pass fee of $3. The proceeds will go to St. Martin’s Animal Parish and Lafayette Animal Aid.
