Cane Cutters handily defeat Victoria Generals 12-4

The 19th ranked Acadiana Cane Cutters dominated the Victoria Generals in a 12-4 win on the road on Monday.


Acadiana started off with a bang with a three-run first inning, but waiting until the fourth to get their offense rolling again.


Nine runs were scored between the fourth and the sixth inning for the Cane Cutters and the Generals were unable to keep up offensively.


Dylon Poncho, out of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, led the team in RBI’s with four and totaled three hits on five at bats. Poncho also scored two runs on the night.


Cobie Vance, out of the University of Alabama, had four hits on his six at bats. Vance also scored two runs and totaled two RBI’s.


The University of Arizona’s pitcher Kaleb Roper was awarded the win for the Cane Cutters. Roper allowed one run in his four innings pitched and has a season ERA of 3.48.


The Cane Cutters will have a chance at sweeping the Generals tomorrow night in game two of a two-game series. Acadiana’s next home game will be next Sunday, when the Cane Cutters take on the Brazos Valley Bombers.


Sunday’s game against the Bombers will be the Dog Days of Summer. Fans can purchase a $3 pooch pass to bring their dog to the game. All proceeds will be given to local animal shelters.
