The Cane Cutters lost a close 4-3 game to the Texas Marshals on Saturday night following a near comeback.

The Marshals took a quick 4-0 lead by the fifth inning. The Cane Cutters offense picked up towards the end of the game though with two runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh. However, the runs would stop at three for Acadiana, and the game ended 4-3.

Trenton Buckhorn, out of the University of Texas at Tyler, led Acadiana in batting average hitting two of his three at bat, and also scored one of the Cane Cutters three runs.

Pitcher, J.C. Keys, out of the University of Southern Mississippi, took over in the sixth inning, and didn’t allow a run for the remainder of the game for the Cane Cutters.

Acadiana’s next home game will be tomorrow when the Cane Cutters take on the Brazos Valley Bombers.

Sunday’s game against the Bombers will be the Dog Days of Summer. Fans can purchase a $3 pooch pass to bring their dog to the game. All proceeds will be given to local animal shelters.
