Cane Cutters Shut Out the Aces

The Cane Cutters (4-4) got back on the field after their rainout on Saturday night and won easily against the Alexandria Aces (1-7).  The Cane Cutters stayed on the right track against the Aces for the year with another win, making them 4-0 against the Aces for the season.

The Cane Cutters and Aces battled through the first four innings with neither team putting up any runs.  The Cane Cutters got on the board in the top of the fifth inning when Austin Roussel singled in Gabe Woods to put the Cane Cutters up 1-0.  The next two innings went the same way as the first four with no runs being put on the board for either team.  In the top of the eighth, the Cane Cutters broke the game wide open with seven in the inning.  The Cane Cutters brought eleven men to the plate scoring seven runs on eight hits and one error.

The Cane Cutters were led by Mike Barba (2-4, 1 2B, 1 run), Woods (2-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Roussel (2-4, 1 2B, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), and Braxton Lee (2-3, 1 RBI).  Barba and Lee each had a stolen base to up their total for the year to three and six, respectively.

The Cane Cutters were excellent on mound and in the field.  Sean Kennel (1-1) started his second game of the season and got his first win of season.  He pitched a complete game shutout allowing only four hits and striking out three.

The Cane Cutters will now travel to Spring, Texas to take on the Woodlands Strykers (3-5) for a two-game series who are in their inaugural season.
