Cane Cutters Lose 10-3 on the Road to the Pump Jacks

The Cane Cutters lost a tough game tonight to the Pump Jacks at Driller Park in Kilgore, TX.  The Pump Jacks got off to a fast start against the Cane Cutters and never let off of the throttle.

The Pump Jacks got on the board first in the second inning with three runs.  Colton Bickerstaff doubled to score R.J. Santigate and Taylor Murphy.  Kirby Pellant doubled later in the inning to score Bickerstaff to cap off their three run inning.

The Pump Jacks repeated their three run inning in the third inning as well.  Santigate doubled to score Whitt Dorsey.  Tyler Girouard then singled home Blair DeBord and Santigate to put the Pump Jacks up 6-0.

The Pump Jacks put up one run each in the fourth and fifth inning on a single by Dorsey and a sacrifice fly by Logan Davis, respectively. 

The Cane Cutters were able to get on the board in the seventh inning on a Tyler Kamtz single that scored Ladd Rhodes making the score 8-1 in favor of the Pump Jacks.

Santigate got his second RBI of the game in the eighth inning on a single.  The Pump Jacks got their tenth and final run of the game on a seven pitch battle that ended on a walk of Taylor Murphy who got the RBI.

The Cane Cutters were able to score two more runs in the ninth inning on a Mitchell Nau double before it ended by the score of 10-3 with the Cane Cutters coming up short.

Nau went 2-5 with a double and one RBI and kept his hitting streak going at six games.  Gabe Woods and Alex Marse each got two hits apiece as well.  Marse also had one run scored.

Sean Kennel made his third appearance of the year and had a tough night.  He pitched four and one-third innings giving up fourteen hits, eight earned runs and striking out one dropping his record to 1-2 on the season.

For the Cane Cutters, Andrew Richardson got his first action of the season.  He pitched one inning of relief giving up two earned runs on three hits, walking one and striking out one. He is from University of Louisiana-Monroe joining fellow teammate Ryan Bergeron on the Cane Cutters.

The Cane Cutters record dropped to 6-6 on the season while the Pump Jacks upped their record to 9-3.  The Cane Cutters have a day off tomorrow before traveling to Byran, TX to take on the Brazos Valley Bombers at Brazos Valley Bank Ballpark on Monday, June 18.
