08/08/2017 3:35 PM -

After the conclusion of the regular season on Monday night, many of the statistical categories across the league included top-five finishes by Acadiana players.

The top-five finishes were highlighted by four different regulars in the Cane Cutters lineup who finished at the top of four categories. Shortstop Brady Bell (Nichols St) won the TCL batting title, finishing the summer with a mark of .358, two points ahead of teammate Daniel Lahare (ULL) who finished in second. Lahare ended up leading the league in hits, however, with 58 in 44 games. Lahare’s outfield partner, Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) collected a league high 12 doubles on the year while starting pitcher Max Page (UT Tyler) amassed more strikeouts than any other pitcher in the TCL, recording 53 outs by way of the “K.”

Logan Bottrell (New Mexico St) was the third of three Cane Cutters to finish in the top four of the TCL batting title race, with a mark of .328 placing him one spot off the podium. The outfield trio of Lahare, Montenegro and Gavin Bourgeois (ULL) finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th in runs scored with 40, 38 and 37 respectively. Bourgeois also finished in the top five in steals (2nd, 18) and on-base percentage (5th, .458) while Montenegro added top five performances in RBI (t-5th with Bell, 28), walks (5th, 31), hits (5th, 51) to pacing the league in doubles.

On the mound, Page turned in top five performances in ERA (4th, 3.34), innings pitched (5th, 56 ⅔ ) and wins (t-3rd with Adam Nelson {Delgado CC}, 4) in addition to his league-leading strikeout performance. Joining Page atop the pitching leaderboards were Nelson, Emile Lege (t-2nd in saves, 3), Keith Meier & Austin Brown (t-3rd in complete games with each other.)

The Cane Cutters will travel to Victoria tomorrow, August 9th, for a single-elimination playoff game against the Generals starting at 7pm.
