Canes drop one 4-3 in ten innings

07/29/2012 9:37 PM -

The Cane Cutters took on the Brazos Valley Bombers.  They fought valiantly and put up a good fight, but were unable to overcome the Bombers with the score ending 4-3 in the Bombers favor.

The Bombers struck early on a Cane Cutter error scoring in the first inning. They scored in again in the second inning on a solo home run by Nick Smelser.  The Bombers were again able to squeeze one more run in the fourth inning when Bobby Butvin doubled and was driven in on Nick Smelser’s double.

The Cane Cutters were able to stop the Bombers from scoring any more runs for the next four innings and when it was their turn to bat in the eighth, Mike Barba started momentum by hitting a two-out double and then followed a triple by Braxton Lee to bring Barba home.  A single by Brett Thornell was able to allow Lee to score. The inning ended with the score 3-2

In the ninth inning, the Bombers were unable to score and the Cane Cutters answered with a run of their own when Mitch Nau hit a double and moved to third on a wild pitch.  He then scored when Bombers third basemen Brennyn Smith committed an error, leaving the score tied at 3-3.

In the tenth inning the Bombers scored on a wild pitch by Patrick Michon, which the Cane Cutters were unable to answer, resulting in the loss 4-3.
