RAIN CANCELS CANE CUTTER GAME AGAINST MARSHALS

08/01/2014 8:02 PM -

Tonight’s game between the Acadiana Cane Cutters and the Texas Marshals was postponed due to rain and field conditions.

After a thirty-minute rain delay, the two teams attempted to get the contest in, however with the Cane Cutters batting in the bottom of the 3rd inning, the rain again began to fall, postponing the game.

The Cane Cutters offense got off to an early start in the bottom of the 1st inning. With one out, Cameron Dishon (Ole Miss) drew a one-out walk and advanced to second base on a Chance Vincent (University of Alabama) single to left field. Then, with two outs, Austin Knight (Ole Miss) knocked an RBI single to centerfield to score Dishon. Acadiana would plate another run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, and they were batting with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 3rd inning and a 4-0 lead when the game was called.

Jake Johnson (Neosha County Community College) was the starting pitcher for the Cane Cutters and dealt three innings of shutout ball.

Unfortunately, the game did not make it through 5 innings, thus tonight’s lead does not count  officially in the standings as well as the statistics associated.

Tonight’s C&G Boats postgame fireworks show was also canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Tickets to tonight’s game can be redeemed at the Cane Cutters’ final two home games next week or at any playoff game that the Cane Cutters host, if applicable.

The Cane Cutters will travel to the Victoria Generals on Saturday and Sunday and then return home to host the Woodlands Strykers next Tuesday and Wednesday.
