The Acadiana Cane Cutters announced today that head coach Darien Dukes will return for his fourth season as the Cane Cutters take the field for the 14th season in the Texas Collegiate League.

“It is great to have Darien back with the Cane Cutters.  His relationship with the players and his knowledge of the game makes it an easy choice to lead the Cane Cutters,” commented Richard Chalmers, Cane Cutters owner.  “Darien’s ability to develop players, his willingness to work with our front office and his involvement with our fans has made Darien the perfect choice for the Cane Cutters.”

Coach Dukes grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana where he attended Trinity Heights Academy high school. He then attended Baptist Christian College where he helped them win two national championships and earned his degree.  He began his coaching career in 1996 and has coached high school baseball in Northwest Louisiana and East Texas for over 23 years.  Darien also spent time in professional baseball on the coaching staff of the Shreveport-Bossier Captains (American Association), where they won a championship in 2010.  He is married to Dr. Kristi Dukes and has two children, Gavin and Breanne.
