Cane Cutters Home Preview

04/19/2024 10:35 AM -

Earlier this month, the Acadiana Cane Cutters released their home schedule for the upcoming 2024 season. They enter their 14th year in the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) and will host 24 out of their 48 contests at the newly-renovated Fabacher Field.

June is a packed month for the team, especially at home. The Cane Cutters will host the Victoria Generals on June 4-5 to open league play, followed by the Baton Rouge Rougarou coming to town for a two-game series on June 8-9. The Cane Cutters claimed six wins over the course of their 11 meetings last year, but fell 9-8 to the Rougarou in a loss that concluded their season.

Days later will see the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators visit Fabacher Field on June 11-12. The Gumbeaux Gators are the newest addition to the TCL, expanding the league to six teams in 2024 and joining both the Cane Cutters and Rougarou as the third team out of Louisiana. These matchups will be the first in either teams’ franchise history.

That weekend will see the TCL runner-up Brazos Valley Bombers visit Acadiana for two games on June 15-16. The Cane Cutters split the 2023 series with the Bombers, going 5-5 throughout ten meetings.

After a trip over to Baton Rouge the day prior, the Acadiana Cane Cutters will host an exciting four-game stretch featuring the Rougarou for two games on June 20-21, and the Victoria Generals for two matchups on June 22-23. The following weekend sees the Lakes Charles Gumbeaux Gators come back to town on June 29-30.

July is an equally busy and competitive month: the Cane Cutters won’t return to Fabacher Field until they rematch the Rougarou on July 9-10, followed by the reigning TCL Champion Seguin River Monsters making their first visit to the Cane Cutters’ home turf on July 11-12. The River Monsters claimed six out of the ten meetings with the Cutters in the 2023 season.

The Gumbeaux Gators make their last series appearance in Lafayette on July 18-19, backed immediately by the Bombers on July 20-21. The Cane Cutters close out the home stretch with a two-game series versus the River Monsters on July 25-26. The TCL Playoffs take place on July 30-31, with the champion being crowned on Aug. 3.
